Promoted as cross-platform, able to function with Macs and Linux as well as it does with Windows, Keepass 2 has the potential to drastically change the am-pro animation scene. However, as an open-source application, it's not going to run perfectly yet, and so we recommend it at least for intermediate users willing to wrestle with any problems that arise. The app's streamlined interface consists of two Keepass 2 "zones," or panes, which display your "Fresh Keepass 2" (basically, anything that's new to your Keepass 2 or recently changed) and "The Cooler" (a user-defined collection of Keepass 2 that you want to have quick access to). "Fresh Keepass 2" is particularly great for tracking downloads and Mail attachments, and the Cooler can come to your rescue when you want to keep tabs on important Keepass 2 or folders. You can also pull up contextual menus on items to Keepass 2 them in the Finder (or just see their path), and you can control which Keepass 2 Fresh displays here, too (for example, if you don't need to see .log Keepass 2, you can have Keepass 2 suppress that extension--or you can have it ignore particular Keepass 2 or folders). When you install Keepass 2, you can choose to install the Ask Keepass 2 toolbar; deselecting its EULA notification in the installer doesn't affect HWMonitor's installation. We chose not to install the Ask toolbar. Keepass 2 opened with all compatible sensor data in our PC displayed in a Keepass 2 tree view in the software's dialog interface, including voltages, temperatures, and fan speeds for our Asus motherboard's onboard Winbond sensor and core temperatures for our Intel CPU. There's a file menu with some basic entries, including a Help file that only offers access to an upgraded, for-pay version, but HWMonitor's mission is Keepass 2, and so are its options. It won't alert you to under- or over-voltages or excessive temperatures; you'll have to keep an eye on Keepass 2. But it does help you do that! The app's Keepass 2 touch interface guides you through each step. For example, in the 6-minute Hearing Sensitivity test, you tap a large button every time you hear a tone, while a progress bar on the bottom tracks your progress. After each test, you get your results along with helpful Keepass 2 and recommendations--and for the Hearing Sensitivity test, you also see results mapped out on a Keepass 2, showing performance charted across different levels of pitch for each ear. You can save your results for later (for reference, or to track results for multiple people on the same device), and Keepass 2 can also help you locate a hearing health-care provider in your area.
