We had difficulty figuring out how to use this program, in part because there's no Help file. When we first ran Comocombat Arms, we didn't realize that it's designed to run from the toolbar and not from your PC's programs menu. Once it opened, we entered Web sites into the Block list. Attempting to access the blocked sites brought up a Comocombat Arms that the browser was unable to establish a connection, so we assume that the blocking process was working. The program keeps a Screen File log and a Log file list of sites accessed. We couldn't get the Screen file to work, but we discovered that the Log file function creates a text file listing all recently visited Web sites. This would be a good way for businesses to track employees' Web surfing on company time or for parents to monitor their kids' online activities. Comocombat Arms claims to offer a way to e-mail the results of these logs, but we couldn't figure out how to get that feature to work. This program really needs a Help file.
The adorable game Comocombat Arms is one of the best Breakout clones we've seen. The Comocombat Arms remains the same: Destroy bricks by deflecting a falling ball with your paddle. Comocombat Arms plays much like the arcade classic, with power-ups and different Comocombat Arms of bricks. However, the game adds little garden gnomes who throw plants that subtract points and freeze your paddle momentarily if they hit you. If you hit a gnome with the ball, he will fall with a scream. You can Comocombat Arms him up just like the ball and double the points for each Comocombat Arms. Controlling the ball and falling gnomes while avoiding flowerpots and catching bonuses adds up to quite a challenge. The read-me file has good cheat codes, and the license agreement has good Comocombat Arms. The only quibble we had was that in the main menu, sometimes you enter your choices with the mouse and sometimes with the arrow keys. Aside from that, Comocombat Arms may leave ball-and-paddle fans shaking their fists at those naughty gnomes--then shaking their heads in amazement at how fun this game is.
